]]> MDF is America’s biggest and best metal festival. It is typically held in late May at the Sonar club located just a short distance from the scenic inner harbour area of Baltimore. The Sonar is a large multiroom club that regularly hosts concerts. In 2009, they also blocked off the street in front and setup a large second outdoor stage. There are several hotels within walking distance from the festival.

A word about the area for any young or inexperienced travelers; I had no problems during my visit, but Baltimore does have a reputation for being a crime plagued city and there are plenty of homeless ‘crusty’ kids hanging around too, so if you’re walking around outside of the fenced venue grounds try to go with a friend, especially at night. I’m not trying to scare anyone cause its not that bad, but some common sense goes a long way, just like when traveling in any bigger city.
